On April 7, 2021, the first meeting of the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan Jamshed Jumakhonzoda with the Head of the United Nations Children’s Fоund (UNICEF) in Tajikistan Mr. Osama Makkawi took place. During the working meeting, the parties exchanged information on the activities of their organizations, as well as on tasks and plans for 2021.
The Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan spoke about the fairly quick adjustments to the activities of the Chamber to provide effective support to the private sector in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In turn, Mr. Osama Makkawi emphasized the importance of private sector participation in providing sustainable assistance to the children of Tajikistan, by improving education, forming and instilling the foundations of a healthy lifestyle, and other important factors influencing the development and formation of the younger generation, while emphasizing that Children are the future of Tajikistan. The meeting also touched upon the topic of prevention of iodine deficiency in Tajikistan through salt iodization — the process of enriching salt with iodine in order to prevent iodine deficiency diseases in children and adults.
